In this lesson you will find a step by step presentation on how to show your child how to make a "parts of" book. This lesson is presented after the child has had a chance to work with the puzzles and nomenclature cards for a while, this may differ for every child. Some children may be ready for the next step after using the puzzle and cards only a few times, others will need more time. Usually a younger child (3yo) will need more time with finding their way around the puzzle for a while first, while an older child (4/12 and up) may be able to handle both the puzzle and the cards together. This lesson is great introduction to reading and writing and the children will be so proud to know they have made a book!
Nomenclature cards are used in a variety of ways in the Montessori classroom. This presentation can be applied to any set of cards. It is a great introduction to visual discrimination of the letters and as well as enriching the child's vocabulary.
This presentation can be done with or without a control card. I personally don't use them in my classroom but they can be helpful for the youngest children especially when a puzzle is particularly difficult. We do not have control cards available for now but will have them available for you very soon!
